On-Off, On-Off

There IS a right way

There are two interactive power sources in your radio-controlled boat. One system is the radio you hold in your hand (transmitter), and the other is the power system in the boat that converts your commands into action.

As simple as our electronics have become, there still are some mysteries to us laymen. If we ignore the rules, technology will come back and bite us at the most inappropriate time.

One of those rules is "First On, Last Off", a rule that should be written on every transmitter. Why, you ask? There is something about turning the transmitter on or off, with the receiver on, that is damaging to the system. I don't know what damage is done, and I personally don't care. I have a hard enough time remembering "First On, Last Off".

"First On" means you turn your Transmitter on first, and then your receiver (boat circuit). When shutting down, you turn off the boat first and the transmitter "Last".

If you do not have a "First On, Last Off" sticker on your radio, ask for one. I have these stickers made up to help all of us remember this important sequence. Sure, you can make a mistake every once in awhile, but eventually it will come back to bite you.
